No, there is NOT a consensus on Manmade Climate Change!

And NO, it's NOT just FoxNews and wacko Republicans disputing it!

Thankfully, there are still places you can go to see some intelligent debate on the subject; here are a couple:

Fwd: Liberal Media Turn Deaf Ear to NY Mosque Outrage

From the Desk of:
David Martin, Executive Vice President

MEDIA RESEARCH CENTER
8/20/2010

Michael,

The building of a mosque overlooking the site of the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks has outraged Americans everywhere. Not surprisingly, our President and the media have completely missed the point. Just as with the Arizona immigration law, the "news" media and the President have decided that anyone who disagrees with their far-left views is a racist.

The backers of The Cordoba project, as the Ground Zero Mosque is known, claim that it is designed to bring peace and understanding between East and West. Polls show that most Americans who are not part of the liberal media don't believe this and view it as a slap in the face to those who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks.

The media have put little effort into exposing the truth about Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the mosque project who once said the US was "an accessory to the crime" on 9/11. The media could focus on the fact that no one will say where the funding for this $100 million project is coming from. Instead the media focus on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's and Barack Obama's newfound love for religious freedom.

The liberal elites in the "news" media and Washington, DC like to characterize this controversy as the bigoted rabble being paranoid about a foreign culture we do not understand. This is far from the truth. The American people are aware that conquering Islamic armies built mosques at the site of battles they won. One of the greatest battles was fought in the city of Cordoba, Spain. Cordoba marked the furthest progress made by Islamic armies, at their height over one thousand years ago. Cordoba is also the name of the mosque that Feisal Abdul Rauf wants to build at Ground Zero, a location that Islamist terrorists worldwide consider to be the site of a great victory in the Islamic Jihad against the West.

Since the so-called "news" media aren't asking Americans why they are overwhelmingly opposed to this, we did.

With cameras in hand, the Media Research Center traveled to New York City to ask New Yorkers why they are opposed to this mosque.

Click here to watch our curbside interviews with the people of New York on the Ground Zero Mosque.

+ + + We went to New York City, now we need you to go to a local town hall meeting!

In addition to our efforts to arrest the media's attempts to demonize those who object to the NY mosque, we need you, Michael to ask these same questions of your elected officials!

Get your lawmakers on record about the Ground Zero Mosque. Get their thoughts and comments on tape and post it to our EyeBlast.tv site.

If the liberal news organizations will not ask the tough questions, we must take action ourselves to get to the truth – to expose the true nature of those guiding our nation.

Call your lawmakers today, and find out when they have scheduled their town hall meetings in your community and attend! If they aren't holding town hall meetings, find out when and where you can see them.

Then get them on record!

Michael, the only way we can stop the madness that is taking place throughout our nation is to take action. Together we must identify those who don't speak for the people, and expose them for the world to see.

Thank you for being a vital part of what we do at the MRC.

David

No fence-sitting

Which side of the fence?

If you ever wondered which side of the fence you are on, this is a great test!

If a Conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.

If a Liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns banned.

If a Conservative is a vegetarian, he chooses not to eat meat.

If a Liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned.

If a Conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.

If a Liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect, and special considerations.

If a Conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.

A Liberal expects the government and tax payers to take care of him as an entitlement.

If a Conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.

Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.

A Liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced

(except sometimes non-Christian religions are okay, for whatever reason).

If a Conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or seeks a job that provides it.

A Liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his as an entitlement.

If a Conservative reads this, he may forward it so his friends can have a good laugh

(or a good cry...)

A Liberal will probably just delete it because he's greatly "offended".

What are you going to do?

Those of you with or without pets, you'll understand.

The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door.

Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your dish or food, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize length is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:

TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:

(1) They live here. You don't.
(2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture.
(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
(1) eat less,
(2) don't ask for money all the time,
(3) are easier to train,
(4) occasionally come when called,
(5) never ask to drive the car,
(6) don't smoke or drink,
(7) don't want to wear your clothes,
(8) don't have to buy the latest fashions
(9) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and
(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children.

Comedy Central Mocking Jesus Christ

The Comedy Central network has a long history of denigrating
Jesus Christ and the Christian faith. Now, they are developing
a new series called "JC" that will openly mock Jesus and give
Comedy Central even more time and latitude to increase their
attacks on a religion practiced by 80 percent of Americans.

Just weeks ago, Comedy Central censored a depiction of the
prophet Mohammad after intense Muslim protest. But Christians
are fair game!

I am outraged by this unabashed double standard, and I'm
protesting against Comedy Central and its parent company Viacom
and their plans to air this show mocking Christians.

I have just added my name to a Media Research Center petition,
and I'm urging you to do the same by clicking here now:

http://www.mrcaction.org/555/petition.asp?PID=24646372&NID=1

We cannot allow the Hollywood Elite and the left-wing media
to continue to savage Christians. That's why I'm taking
action and I hope you will do the same.

Thanks for joining with me.

Arizona's got it right

http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/05/03/offering-up-a-zona-defense/

So how do we as informed citizens respond to the idiots in the Milwaukee gov't (Aldermen, probably many others) who want to cut off business ties to AZ?  Even IF this law was wrong -- which of course it is not -- why should the companies THERE have to pay for what the gov't THERE did, by losing business with companies HERE (and most likely LOTS of other big-medium sized cities), because of the what the gov't HERE (and all over) does???

It's soooo easy for Liberals/Progressives to hate on Big Business, cuz the CEOs are ridiculously wealthy and we pay more for gas even though the oil companies are paying less for barrels of oil. . .but then for some reason they give the gov't (fed, state, local, whatever) a free pass on everything, unless it's something blatant where a politician gets caught red-handed molesting children or selling a seat.
How the MainStream Media can look at forced redistribution of wealth and NOT see socialism is a friggin mystery to me alright.

I'd like to write to that idiotic southside Alderman who proposed boycotting AZ businesses, but i wonder how seriously my words would be taken considering that i live in (what many consider) an "affluent white" suburb.
Here endeth the rant.

wow

Still assessing this whole thing. . .not sure if it's more of a compendium, hodge-podge, waste of a lot of time. . .but the purple ones are films that i've seen and remember fairly well.  Some i haven't seen in over 20 years, some i have seen in the last 20 but don't really recall; and the Bond films i really couldn't say which i have or haven't seen, with the exception of a couple i KNOW i haven't seen (i.e. On Her Majesty's...with Lazenby).

Oh, it'll make a bit more sense if you read the Intro first.  Honest.
Also, you may recall the "1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die" list (i think a few have been added), i've got a copy of that as well if you want it.  That one has foreign films, whereas this one doesn't.  That one is also in chronological order, this one is. . .uh, hardly in any order.

Haven't gone through the whole thing, but i went through a LOT.

I THINK THIS IS IT! ! !

Yes, the video i've scoured the Internet for -- at least once every 5 years -- because it was the funniest thing i ever saw in High School!
Suddenly, thanks to the 'splosion of YouTube and its ilk, there are many videos of narcoleptic dogs!
I'm fairly confident that this golden oldie is still the cream of the crop!
Here's hoping this clip becomes mandatory viewing @ every HS in the country.
Heck, they could probably do a Clockwork Orange thing with every terrorist we capture, and after an hour of watching this (and other, similar videos perhaps) they'll all be so giddy and joyful that they will never want to kill again!

Having accomplished this, my remaining decades-long quest is to find an irregularly-sized (maybe spiral-bound?) book, published in the late '70s or early '80s, in which the author expounds upon his experience with the Atari 2600 game Breakout.  I remember something about his becoming able to play the game with the bottom of the TV screen covered, so that he couldn't see his paddle at all.  Seriously, i think this book was my true introduction to existentialism!  Also, it's MUCH easier to take in than anything those recognized existentialists ever wrote!

Not Performing Programs

This is a neat page.  Well, in theory at least.  Not quite so neat when you stop and think about it.  But it's good to see that somebody, somewhere in DC is following through on government transparency and accountability to its employers (us).  It definitely needs updating, though.
http://tinyurl.com/ya4a79h

"
Programs categorized as NOT PERFORMING have ratings of Ineffective or Results Not Demonstrated.

Ineffective. Programs receiving this rating are not using your tax dollars effectively. Ineffective programs have been unable to achieve results due to a lack of clarity regarding the program's purpose or goals, poor management, or some other significant weakness.

Results Not Demonstrated. A rating of Results Not Demonstrated (RND) indicates that a program has not been able to develop acceptable performance goals or collect data to determine whether it is performing.

Based on our most recent assessments, 20% of Federal programs are Not Performing."

Kind of ironic that typing into your address bar "expectmore.gov" redirects you to a site which is part of "whitehouse.gov"

The Dept of Health & Human Service (HHS) has over THIRTY (30) programs on this list! (see pp 2-3)

Over TWENTY-FIVE (25) of them received fed'l funding for FY08.  (I have no idea how/why the others did NOT receive it!)

Logic dictates that HHS will be playing a large role in any new gov't programs established as a result of the recently passed health care bill.

Either that, or Obama/Congress will pull a Bush-like "DHS" and establish an entirely new federal bureaucratic entity.

In either event, this website does not give a rosy outlook. . .

Most Outrageous Media Quotes of 2009 Part I

The Media Research Center has released its annual list of outrageous media quotes. Here are the winners and runner-ups [sic] in each category. There are so many good quotes this year we will publish Part II next week.

The Coronation of the Messiah Award for Fawning Inaugural Coverage Winner:
"We know that wind can make a cold day feel colder, but can national pride make a freezing day feel warmer? It seems to be the case because regardless of the final crowd number estimates, never have so many people shivered so long with such joy. From above, even the seagulls must have been awed by the blanket of humanity."— ABC's Bill Weir on "World News," January 20.
[ nah, just awed by the mammoth blanket of targets! ]

Runners-Up:
"What a day it was. It may take days or years to really absorb the significance of what happened to America today.... When he [Barack Obama] finally emerged, he seemed, even in this throng, so solitary, somber, perhaps already feeling the weight of the world, even before he was transformed into the leader of the free world.... The mass flickering of cell phone cameras on the Mall seemed like stars shining back at him."— NBC's Andrea Mitchell on the January 20 "Nightly News."

"You know what it [Obama's inauguration] reminds me of? It reminds me of the Velvet Revolution. I was in Prague when that happened. And Vaclav Havel was a generational leader and was in the square in Prague and the streets were filled with joy. And we're not overthrowing a Communist regime here, obviously, but an unpopular President is leaving and people have been waiting for this moment."— NBC's Tom Brokaw during live coverage prior to Obama's inauguration, January 20.

Master of His Domain Award for Obama Puffery Winner:
"The legislative achievements have been stupendous—the $789 billion stimulus bill, the budget plan that is still being hammered out (and may, ultimately, include the next landmark safety-net program, universal health insurance). There has also been a cascade of new policies to address the financial crisis—massive interventions in the housing and credit markets, a market-based plan to buy the toxic assets that many banks have on their books, a plan to bail out the auto industry and a strict new regulatory regime proposed for Wall Street. Obama has also completely overhauled foreign policy, from Cuba to Afghanistan. 'In a way, Obama's 100 days is even more dramatic than Roosevelt's,' says Elaine Kamarck of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. 'Roosevelt only had to deal with a domestic crisis. Obama has had to overhaul foreign policy as well, including two wars. And that's really the secret of why this has seemed so spectacular.'"—Time's Joe Klein in the magazine's May 4 cover story on Barack Obama's first 100 days as President.
[ nono, this is a GOOD regime! ]

Runners-Up:
"It didn't take long for Barack Obama—for all his youth and inexperience—to get acclimated to his new role as the calming leader of a country in crisis.... Rookie jitters? Far from it.... For the past three months, Obama has spoken in firm, yet soothing tones. Sometimes he has used a just-folks approach to identify with economically struggling citizens. He has displayed wonkish tendencies, too, appearing much like the college instructor he once was while discussing the intricacies of the economic collapse. He has engaged in witty banter, teasing lawmakers, staffers, journalists and citizens alike. He has struck a statesmanlike stance, calling for a renewed partnership between the United States and its allies...."—AP Washington correspondent Liz Sidoti in an April 25 dispatch.

"There were ghosts in that chamber tonight, the other Presidents who tried to reform the healthcare system and failed. From Teddy Roosevelt, to Harry Truman, to Bill Clinton who came to Congress 16 years ago this month with his plan.... There was another ghost in the chamber tonight, the spirit of Senator Ted Kennedy, who fought for decades for universal care.... At the end, President Obama sought to draw on the grand rhetorical tradition of President Kennedy and others, trying to summon the country to a great and necessary endeavor."—ABC's Terry Moran reporting on Obama's speech to Congress on "Nightline," September 9.
[ when did so-called anchors and reporters transition to aspiring political poets?  make it stop! ]

The Crush Rush Award for Loathing Limbaugh Winner:
"The type of female that does like Rush is the same type of woman that falls in love with prisoners. You know what I mean? They like Richard Ramirez or—Squeaky Fromme is a good example. I think Charles Manson's—Eva Braun, Hitler's girlfriend. That is exactly the type of woman that responds really well to Rush. And there will be some Eva Brauns, Squeaky Frommes out there that will respond really well to this cattle call right now."—Actress/activist Janeane Garofalo on MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," February 26.
[ if THIS type of female liked ME, i would take a long hard look at what horrible things i'd done wrong. ]

Runners-Up:
"Limbaugh's perceived racist diatribes are too many to name but here's a sampling: He once declared that [words on screen] 'Slavery built the South. I'm not saying we should bring it back, I'm just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark,' said Limbaugh."—CNN's Rick Sanchez promoting a made-up quote on the 3 p.m. hour of "Newsroom," October 12.

"Rush Limbaugh is beginning to look more and more like Mr. Big, and at some point somebody's going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head and he's going to explode like a giant blimp. That day may come. Not yet, but we'll be there to watch."—Chris Matthews on MSNBC's "Morning Meeting," October 13.
[ wow.  fighting alleged hatred with the real, unadulterated thing.  and they say Glenn Beck isn't real news?!?! ]

Damn Those Conservatives Award Winner:
"The Republicans lie! They want to see you dead! They'd rather make money off your dead corpse! They kind of like it when that woman has cancer and they don't have anything for her."—Ed Schultz, host of MSNBC's "The Ed Show," September 23.

Runners-Up:
"…the total mindless, morally bankrupt, knee-jerk, fascistic hatred—without which Michelle Malkin would just be a big mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick on it."—"Countdown" host Keith Olbermann talking about the conservative columnist and author, October 13.
[ "fascistic"?  a little more word-checking and a little less rage please, Keith. ]

"The tenets of the Republican Party are amazing and they seem warm and welcome. But when I watch it be applied—like you didn't have to go much further than the Republican National Convention.... It literally look[s] like Nazi Germany."—CNN host/comedian D.L. Hughley to RNC Chairman Michael Steele on "D.L. Hughley Breaks the News," February 28.

The Poison Tea Pot Award for Smearing the Anti-Obama Rabble Winner:

CNN analyst David Gergen: "Republicans are pretty much in disarray.... They have not yet come up with a compelling alternative, one that has gained popular recognition. So-"

Anchor Anderson Cooper: "Teabagging. They've got teabagging."

Gergen: "Well, they've got the teabagging.... [But] Republicans have got a way—they still haven't found their voice, Anderson. They're still—this happens to a minority party after it's lost a couple of bad elections, but they're searching for their voice."
Cooper: "It's hard to talk when you're teabagging."

-- CNN's Anderson Cooper on "Anderson Cooper 360," April 14. ("Teabagging" is a vulgar slang term for a certain variety of oral sex. Cooper later apologized.)
[ i'm surprised he ever apologized.  some very big cheese @ CNN must have insisted on it. ]

Runners-Up:
"Let's be very honest about what this is about. It's not about bashing Democrats, it's not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston tea party was about, they don't know their history at all. This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks."—Actress/activist Janeane Garofalo on MSNBC's "Countdown," April 16.
[ ummm...so what about the BLACK MEN at these rallies?  self-loathing?  wannabe honkies? ]

"You know, Kyra, this is a party for Obama bashers. I have to say that this is not entirely representative of everybody in America.... It's anti-government, anti-CNN, since this is highly promoted by the right wing conservative network, Fox. And since I can't really hear much more and I think this is not really family viewing, I'll toss it back to you."—CNN Correspondent Susan Roesgen during live coverage of the Tea Party protests, "CNN Newsroom," April 15.

Spread the Wealth Award for Socialist Sermonizing Winner:
"Why not just nationalize the banks?... People are angry. There's so much taxpayer money going into the banks. Why shouldn't the government—why shouldn't you just fire the executives who wrecked these banks in the first place and tanked the world's financial system in the process?"—ABC's Terry Moran interviewing President Obama for "Nightline," February 10.

Runners-Up:
"I don't think that left to its own devices, capitalism moves along smoothly and everyone gets treated fairly in the process. Capitalism is like a child: if you want the child to grow up free and productive, somebody's got to look over the shoulder of that child."—PBS host Tavis Smiley in a Time magazine symposium on "The Future of Capitalism," May 25 issue.
[ and we call that someone. . .Big Brother! ]

"In Britain, a government takeover of a bank last year helped to temporarily calm fears in the financial markets there. Nationalization may have a psychological impact as well, and Uncle Sam wrapping his arms around failing banks in this country might provide a big dose of confidence for the American consumer."—Katie Couric on the February 19 "CBS Evening News," talking about the Obama administration possibly taking over American banks.

"We're the only industrialized democracy that doesn't cover every citizen. That is immoral.... To be a country this wealthy and be the only industrialized democracy that hasn't figured out how to cover everyone."—Time senior political analyst Mark Halperin, ex-ABC News political director, talking about health insurance coverage on CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight," August 6.

Long Live Camelot Award for Lionizing Ted Kennedy Winner:
"Mary Jo wasn't a right-wing talking point or a negative campaign slogan.... We don't know how much Kennedy was affected by her death, or what she'd have thought about arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history.... [One wonders what] Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted's death, and what she'd have thought of the life and career that are being (rightfully) heralded. Who knows—maybe she'd feel it was worth it."— Discover magazine deputy web editor Melissa Lafsky, who formerly worked on the New York Times's Freakonomics blog, writing at the Huffington Post, August 27.
[ and hey, maybe JFK & RFK would have felt that it was worth being assassinated, so that Teddy could become the big Kennedy on the block for a few decades? ]

Runners-Up:

"The heavens were weeping for Teddy Kennedy today."Andrea Mitchell noting the rainy weather for Kennedy's funeral, August 29 "NBC Nightly News."
[ not a single sparrow falls without the Father's knowledge or permission. . .same goes for politicians. ]

"America mourns the lion of the Senate.... There is, of course, no royal family in this country. The Kennedys, perhaps, the closest we've ever had.... For nearly half a century in the Senate, Ted Kennedy spoke for people who had no voice — the poor and the disabled, children and the elderly."—Katie Couric kicking off the August 26 "CBS Evening News."

Brian Williams: "We thought one way to look at his life might be the way some people looked at him today, the way filmmaker Frank Capra might have looked at life: What would it have been like without a Ted Kennedy?"...  Reporter Kevin Tibbles: "Many say Ted Kennedy's passion was people, and tonight they have lost a champion."—"NBC Nightly News", August 26.

[ here endeth Part I.  i leave it up to you to seek out Part II, should you so desire. ]

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.  For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;  And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:  That no flesh should glory in his presence.
