Earthquakes in Alaska!

Whole bunch of 'em, up to magnitude 5.2, today alone!

If you had this sweet Earthquakes Meter from http://addgadget.com/ (not to mention the equally sweet All CPU Meter, and the probably sweet Control System gadgets which i don't use) you could be getting worldwide earthquake data in just-about-real time!  It can be configured to check the data from USGS as often as you like (from every minute to, theoretically at least, only once a day - i have it set to 5 minutes), to show only today's quakes, only today's M 1+ quakes (where mine is now), or the past 7 days' quakes of M 2.5+, 5+ or 7+.

I've never been all that into earthquakes, but with this awesome free gadget, that's starting to change!

Note: You need Windows Vista or Windows 7 to use this.  If you have the former, i am sorry for you.  If you have the latter, ain't it great???

Now i'm working on finding a gadget that tells me when i can see various astronomical stuff (ISS, planets, Iridium flares) from my coordinates. . .
