Good News

My dear family in Christ:

I realize the urge is to curse the electorate and Electoral College, get drunk, and groan about how terrible the next 4 years will be here in the USofA.  Certainly plenty of people are doing all these things, and perhaps a few of them even feel better as a result.  But we must rise above this temptation.

Our kingdom is not of this world, and ultimately neither are we.  Our future is brighter than we can possibly imagine, and our King more glorious than any human ear hath heard or eye hath seen.

Even from an earthly perspective, we still are fortunate to live in the greatest country there is, where the bulk of our Constitutional freedoms are intact, and most will remain so despite the election results.  Let us continue to praise God for all that He has given us, and remember in our hearts and prayers all those Christian brothers and sisters who are not so "lucky" -- yet consider themselves far more blessed than we tend to, despite (and indeed, often because of) their chains.

There are countless Bible verses i could cite in support of this message, but i leave it in your hands to locate them.  I also strongly encourage you to regularly read a devotional, such as Oswald Chambers' "My Utmost for His Highest" and Charles Spurgeon's "Morning and Evening."  The former (and other, more contemporary daily devotions) can be found free at odb.org, just pause your cursor over the word Devotions near the top of the page.

May our Lord continue to richly bless and instruct you all, as He faithfully has me,

michael august schmidt
